Access – Princess Theatre

The Princess Theatre auditorium has spaces for 18 wheelchairs. These spaces have been positioned in representative areas throughout the auditorium, including the centre block of Stalls Rows D and E. If you require a wheelchair position, please advise us when you make your booking.

Any seats in Rows D and E not sold to wheelchair users two weeks before the performance date will be released to the rest of the general public.

Access to main auditorium doors for wheelchair users is via a platform lift located near the box office. Please note that access to the circle is by stairs only.

Aside from our wheelchair positions, we also have a number of aisle seats with flexible armrests for easier access. Please ask our Box Office team for more information.

Access – Earl Arts Centre

Entry to the Earl Arts Centre auditorium is at ground level and wheelchair users can enter through the main door of the Earl Arts Centre to access ground level seating.

The front row of seats can be accessed without negotiating any steps. If you have concerns about using the steps up to the other seats please let us know at the Box Office when you purchase your ticket so we can organise a reserved seat at ground level. Please speak to the Front of House manager if you need any assistance on the day.

Walking Frames

Walking frames may be used by patrons to help them to their seating, however they cannot be left in the aisles and walkways. Our ushers will store your walker and return it to you at the conclusion of the performance.

Companion Cards

Theatre North is affiliated with the State Government’s Companion Card Program.  Companion Card details will need to be provided at the time of ticket purchase.

Hearing Induction Loop

Both the Princess Theatre and Earl Arts Centre are fitted with a hearing induction loop. Please ask our Front of House Manager for assistance if you would like to use this facility.

Assistance Animals

Guide dogs or any animals trained to assist people with disabilities are welcome inside all areas of the Princess Theatre and Earl Arts Centre.  Please phone the Princess Theatre Box Office on 6331 0052 to discuss appropriate seating requirements.

Special Seating Requests

We understand that the theatre can sometimes be a daunting environment for patrons with autism and other specific requirements.  Our staff are always welcoming and supportive.  If you require extra assistance, seating in a particular area or ready access to quiet foyer space, please don’t hesitate to let us know at ticket purchase.

Other Initiatives

Initiatives including tactile tours, relaxed performances, subtitled and audio described shows and social stories are currently in development.  We look forward to updating you about them as they come online.
