ACCESSIBLE SEATING - PRINCESS THEATRE

Stalls

Access to the main auditorium doors;

  • via a platform lift next to the Box Office, or
  • three steps from the street and three steps onto the main foyer level.

The main auditorium has dedicated spaces for wheelchair users and their guests (up to 18 wheelchairs).

We also have several aisle seats with flexible and movable armrests for easier access.

Any seats in Rows D and E that are not sold two weeks before the performance date are released to the general public.

Circle

Access to the circle is by stairs only;

  • three steps from the street and three steps onto the main foyer level, then
  • a set of stairs consisting of sixteen steps, a landing, then twelve steps onto the upstairs foyer level
  • three steps inside the circle.


Walking Frames

Patrons can use walking frames to help them to their seats; however, they can not be left in the aisles and walkways. Our ushers will store your walker and return it to you after the performance.

Entry to the Earl Arts Centre auditorium is at ground level, and wheelchair users can enter through the main door of the Earl Arts Centre to access ground-level seating.

The front row of seats can be accessed without negotiating any steps.

If you have concerns about using the steps up to the other seats, please let us know when you purchase your ticket so we can organise a reserved seat at ground level.


Walking Frames

Patrons can use walking frames to help them to their seats; however, they can not be left in the aisles and walkways. Our ushers will store your walker and return it to you after the performance.

We understand that the theatre can sometimes be a daunting environment for patrons with additional needs related to sensory processing . Our staff are always welcoming and supportive. If you require extra assistance, seating in a particular area, or ready access to a quiet foyer space, please don’t hesitate to let us know when you purchase your ticket.

Theatre North is affiliated with the State Government’s Companion Card Program.
Companion Card details will need to be provided when purchasing your ticket.

Princess Theatre

An accessible bathroom is located next to the Box Office.

Earl Arts Centre

An accessible bathroom is located off the foyer.

Both the Princess and the Earl are fitted with a hearing induction loop. The loop works when a performance (or performer) is amplified or uses microphones. Not all performances are amplified.

The Box Office can advise which shows are amplified and how to use this facility.

Patrons accompanied by guide, hearing or assistance dogs are welcome inside all areas of the Princess Theatre and Earl Arts Centre.

A number of initiatives are currently in development, including tactile tours, social stories, relaxed performances, subtitled and audio-described shows. We look forward to updating you as they come online.
