CORONAVIRUS UPDATE

THEATRE NORTH STATEMENT ON IMPACTS FROM COVID-19

**UPDATED Mon 20 April**

Theatre North is one of many venue managers around Australia impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Sadly, highly-anticipated performances and events from a range of local, national and international companies have been postponed or cancelled.

Please note that not all shows have yet updated Theatre North of their intentions, and we ask that patrons continue to check our website for an up-to-date list of cancelled or postponed performances.

Theatre North wishes to advise that the refund process has commenced.

If you purchased tickets online, no further action is required on your behalf. These refunds are an automated process and we will contact you should we require further information. They will be issued in chronological order of performance, beginning with Encore Theatre Company’s production of Mamma Mia!.

If you purchased tickets in-person or over the phone, a credit will automatically be applied to your Box Office patron account. Funds are held safely in your patron account and can be applied to future performances or refunded to you.

We will make contact with patron account holders, who purchased in-person/over the phone, to discuss refunds and other alternatives. This will take some time, and we thank patrons for their patience. Of course, should you have an urgent query, please contact the Box Office via phone or email.

In-line with our colleagues at the City of Launceston, our Box Office is closed for in-person transactions. It remains open for enquiries and transactions over the phone on 6331 0052, 10am-2pm weekdays.

The health and safety of our community, customers and staff is, of course, our priority.

Tasmania’s cultural industry will be feeling the effects of this unprecedented situation for some time. As one of Northern Tasmania’s largest arts-sector employers, we are committed to working with industry, our community and audiences to ensure a robust and multi-layered performance ecology in Launceston, into the future.

Our best wishes go out to all the wonderful companies and artists affected. They will need Launceston’s fulsome and enthusiastic support in the months to come.

The Princess Theatre and Earl Arts Centre are owned by the City of Launceston and are managed on a lease arrangement by Theatre North Inc.
