The Princess Theatre and Earl Arts Centre are Launceston’s pre-eminent theatre spaces.

Built in 1911, and seating 944 patrons, the Princess holds a cherished spot in northern Tasmanian hearts. The Earl Arts Centre is a well-equipped “black box” theatre, seating 186 patrons. Theatre North Inc manages these venues on behalf of the City of Launceston.

Picking Up Your Tickets

The theatre has recently implemented print-at-home tickets and we can also readily scan tickets sent to your phone.

Physical pre-booked tickets can be collected from the Princess Theatre Box Office during business hours leading up to the performance, or as you arrive for the show at the Princess or Earl. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the show starts so you have plenty of time.

Our normal Box Office hours are currently 10am - 5pm Monday to Friday.

Drinks and Snacks

There are bar facilities on both levels of the Princess Theatre and in the Earl Arts Centre foyer, with a lolly shop right next door to the Princess.

While the bar is currently open for selected shows, we ask that patrons refer to our Front of House staff or in-house screens for arrangements particular to your show.

You may take alcoholic drinks, purchased from our bar, inside the theatre, however hot food and hot beverages are not permitted.

Mobile Phones

We encourage you to download the Covid-Safe app, and to have the app running during your visit with us. Please ensure your phone has been turned to silent.

Generally, no filming or photography is permitted in the theatre. Please check the policy for the event you are attending before using a camera.
