After 114 years of operation as a cinema and a cherished home of live performance, the Princess Theatre will close temporarily at the end of 2025 for a much-needed upgrade.

Before we close, we invite you to rediscover your Princess, and reflect on the stories, performances and generations of performers and audiences she has welcomed.

Join a guided tour and step into the spaces the public rarely gets to see.
Have a seat on stage with a tea or coffee and enjoy the spectacular view of the auditorium (photography highly encouraged). Or discover spaces and hidden treasures on a very unique treasure hunt.

While the builders move in, the show goes on from the Albert Hall and other venues across Launceston, before our return in 2028.
