Theatre North has a strong commitment to child safety. We act in the best interests of children and young people by creating an environment where children’s safety and wellbeing are at the heart of our values, procedures and actions.

Theatre North is committed to upholding the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations. Our policies and procedures are continuously reviewed to reflect the expectations contained with the Child and Youth Safe Organisations Act 2023 and aim to demonstrate best practice with regards to safety and inclusivity.

Theatre is a place where young people imagine, dream and thrive. A happy place, where children feel safe and comfortable; where trust is paramount and young people feel seen, heard and supported.

Theatre North demonstrates a commitment to providing a safe and inclusive venue for our customers. Theatre North’s board of directors, employees and volunteers hold valid Working With Vulnerable People registration cards. We work closely with our theatre hirers, who comply with legislative requirements relating to child safety, and ensure their own volunteers are suitably qualified to provide appropriate supervision of young people in their care. Together we act to prioritise the best interests of children, so that young people in our venue feel included and welcome and are physically and emotionally safe.
