CELEBRITY GUEST STARS ANNOUNCED!

It’s the news that will have musical theatre fans dancing in the streets! Australian stage and TV stars Rob Mills and Jemma Rix will headline the first ever Australian Musical Theatre Festival.

Both Rob and Jemma will be the celebrity guests at the hotly-anticipated inaugural festival in Launceston, Tasmania from 23-26 May this year.

Rob is a household name as a regular on Neighbours and an Australian Idol finalist. His stellar musical theatre career has included lead roles in Jesus Christ Superstar, Ghost the Musical and the original Australian cast of Wicked The Musical.

Jemma is one of Australian musical theatre’s most prominent leading ladies, best known for her unforgettable portrayal of Elphaba in Wicked The Musical. She also received rave reviews for her stunning performance in The Wizard of Oz and is currently the Eva Peron Alternate to Tina Arena in Evita.

Rob and Jemma will star in The Sound of Musicals at the magnificent Princess Theatre in Launceston on Saturday 25 May, as well as other exciting events to be announced later this month.

“Securing Rob and Jemma as the celebrity guests for the first ever Australian Musical Theatre Festival is beyond thrilling,” said Festival Manager Jane Forrest.

“Australian musical theatre fans have waited a very long time to have their own festival and now it is happening with two of our most amazing performers to headline the event.

“Stars will be born at this wonderful, welcoming event.

“Everyone who loves musical theatre or who wants a career in musical theatre will be at this festival, so I’d encourage fans and performers to book early.”

The Festival includes a packed program of workshops, masterclasses, performances, events and a Festival Club. The full program will be announced in coming weeks.
