Rising Water

A tough yet affectionate portrait of life on the ebbing tide by renowned author Tim Winton

The events of Rising Water take place over the course of one evening, on Australia Day on a marina in Fremantle.

Col, Baxter and Jackie live side by side on their respective sailing vessels, which are moored fast and likely never to see the ocean. Each of them has their secrets and their reasons for barricading themselves away from their past on their boats. Over the course of the evening, they will encounter turbulence they weren’t expecting.

Tim Winton’s script is rich with his trademark acerbic irony and pithy observations about the human condition. Fans of his novels will bask in the glow of this play, his first major work for theatre, recognising many of the elements that have allowed him to become one of Australia’s most successful and enduring novelists.
