A Christmas Carol and Treasure Island

Launceston Youth Theatre Ensemble

A Christmas Carol

Adapted by LYTE Director Renée Bakker, A Christmas Carol is a heartfelt and humorous story of one lonely man’s journey to bravely embrace love, and loss, and life. Join Scrooge on his ghostly journey through the past, present and future as he awakens to the joys that can be his for the taking, if only he opens his heart to those around him. A Christmas Carol is a story of redemption and hope, and reminds us all of the vital importance of kindness, compassion and community.

Treasure Island

Adapted by LYTE Director Jimmy Harrison, Treasure Island offers everything an adventurer could hope for. The story is about Jim; a young boy who is feeling a secret stirring to sail the seas and explore the world. After unexpectedly discovering a coveted treasure map, Jim is swept away on the escapade of a lifetime. What follows is a rip-roaring tale of pirates, mutiny, treachery, sword fights, and murder. At its heart, this is the story of one boy’s coming of age; an epic quest that ultimately shapes and defines Jim’s identity, hopes, and dreams. As Jim finds the courage to follow his destiny Treasure Island awakens in us all that most beautiful and instinctive longing for adventure.
