LAUNCESTON COLLEGE
After an unprecedented year of challenges and uncertainty, Launceston College is thrilled to finally share our 2020 musical Flashdance at the Princess Theatre. We are proud to share the hard work of our students with Launceston audiences.
Adapted from the iconic 1983 movie of the same name, Flashdance the Musical tells the story of Alex, a 19 year old welder at a steel mill whose ambition is to obtain a place at the renowned Shipley Dance Academy. Alex dances at Harry’s Bar by night, performing original and innovative routines, but she dreams of becoming a trained, professional dancer. The key themes of the show include non-traditional gender roles in the workplace, overcoming adversity, tenacity and resilience. With instantly recognisable 80s songs including “What a Feeling”, “Maniac”, “I Love Rock and Roll” and “Gloria”, along with a fantastic original score, this will be a great night out at the theatre.
Flashdance the Musical will be performed from December 7 – 9 at the Princess Theatre.
